The systematic concept for gut health
Innovative Nutraceuticals for Dogs and Cats
The central importance of the intestinal microbiome for the overall health of dogs and cats is scientifically proven today. Current research shows close connections between the gut microbiome, immune function, and various organ systems – the role of intact gut health can hardly be overestimated.
The Gut – Basis of Health
A healthy gut microbiome is central to the immune system and metabolism. In the last ten years, the number of publications on the topic of the gut microbiome has increased by more than 4300% (PubMed 2024). These studies show its interaction with the brain, heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, and skin.
Dysbioses, on the other hand, can trigger far-reaching pathological processes and are associated with the following in dogs and cats:
- Immune deficiency
- Atopic and allergic diseases
- Chronic infections
- Neurodegenerative changes
- Inflammatory dermatoses
- Cardiovascular disorders
- Behavioral abnormalities
The EnteriVet® Concept from almapharm
almapharm has reimagined gut health:
The systematic EnteriVet® concept was developed together with veterinarians and offers targeted support for gut health.
The four pillars of the EnteriVet® concept:
- EnteriVet® acut – Support for acute diarrhea
- EnteriVet® biom – Restoration of the microbiome
- EnteriVet® chron – Strengthening of the intestinal wall and immune system
- EnteriVet® motil – Promotion of intestinal motility for regulated defecation and fiber supplementation
Acute Diarrhea – A Burden on the Gut and Immune System
Acute diarrhea in dogs and cats can be triggered by infectious agents, changes in diet, medication, or stress. Fluid and electrolyte losses, as well as a disrupted barrier function, severely stress the organism. Rapid support is crucial for recovery.
Puppies are particularly vulnerable due to their immature immune system. The causes are often bacterial or viral infections, which can sometimes lead to profound damage to the intestinal wall. The goal of therapy is therefore to compensate for electrolyte losses, stabilize the intestinal barrier, support immune defense, and protect against consequential damage.
In adult dogs, acute diarrhea is more often diet-related or results from eating refuse. Here, too, the regeneration of the intestinal barrier and the immunity of the intestinal wall are paramount. Antibiotic therapy is generally not indicated.
The EnteriVet® Protect Formula – Scientifically-Sound Support
The core of EnteriVet® acut is the EnteriVet® Protect Formula – protection of the intestinal wall and strengthening of the immunological barrier. Key components:

-
Red and green algae – to strengthen the intestinal barrier and promote
mucin production - Egg products (rich in immunoglobulins) – to support local immune defense
- Zinc – to strengthen the intestinal mucosa
